Once again, Halverson Northwest Law Group, through the Washington Apple Education Foundation, has awarded an academic scholarship to a young person from our agricultural community who is interested in pursuing a degree in Law. This year’s scholarship goes to Stephanie George, whose parents are leaders in the Hops and Dairy industries, respectively. Stephanie will continue her studies at Washington State University this fall.
The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) is the charitable arm of Washington State’s tree fruit industry, granting access to educational opportunities for young people growing up in tree fruit communities. Many lives— and many families—are positively impacted through the educational assistance provided through WAEF.
These investments in education and future generations also have tremendous impact on the success and well-being of our community as a whole. This year Forbes ranked Yakima, WA—5th out of 124 of the largest farming and agribusiness regions in America based on short- and long-term agribusiness job growth, average earnings, and earnings growth across 68 ag-related industries.(1) This kind of success doesn’t come about by accident; it is a result of years of contributions and commitment from the community.
